New computer technologies have resulted in an explosion of possibile models for changing the educational process. The Master's Program in American Studies has married that subject's traditional interdisciplinary approach with new technologies to produce an innovative program that explores this ever-chagning territory. The fundamental goal of this project is to move beyond the traditonal model of teacher/producer and student/consumer to produce instead a community of learners. This community of learners, both faculty and students, and both on-campus and across the globe, can integrate theory, practive, teaching, and research into a cohesive whole. This program has also proved extremely effective in preparing students technology skills for the world beyond the classroom.
