User of Multimedia Case Studies for Student Assessment
Kristin Sayeski, Education
2005 TTI Fellow
The dual purposes of this project are to: (a) create an online tool for faculty to create web-based, multimedia cases (i.e., eCases) and (b) to publish a sample case for use in EDIS 302: Exceptional Learner. The eCase layout incorporates a case study format with video and audio enhancements. The eCase development tool leads faculty through the process of creating a multimedia case that includes case features such as a filing cabinet to hold documents, a video center housing media clips, an interactive notebook that prompts case-consumers through the non-linear case and an exam room for final assessment. Using the development tool, faculty will be able to create their own cases and launch or publish the case for student use. For the spring of 2005, one case will be developed as a demonstration case. This case will feature a student with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and will be an assignment in the Exceptional Learner class (n = 120).
